  1. 80g softened butter
  2. 1/4 cup (60ml) maple syrup, plus extra to serve
  3. 50g (5-6) chopped dried figs
  4. 1 tablespoon chopped pecan nut
  5. 4 Granny Smith apples, cored
  6. Custard, to serve

  1. Preheat oven to 180u00b0C. Mix the butter, maple syrup, dried figs and pecans.
  2. Use a sharp knife to make a shallow cut through the skin around the middle of the apple - this prevents the skin from bursting during cooking.
  3. Spoon the butter mixture into the cavity of the apples. Place in a baking dish. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Serve hot, drizzled with maple syrup and custard.
